Scholarship Foundation of Santa Barbara seeks a charismatic, hands-on manager to serve as their next President & Chief Executive Officer. The Scholarship Foundation of Santa Barbara is the nation’s largest community-based provider of college scholarships, having cumulatively awarded in excess of $100 million to more than 47,000 Santa Barbara County students since its founding in 1962. Funded entirely by generous donations from local individuals, foundations, businesses, clubs, and organizations, the Foundation awarded 2,688 scholarships totaling $8.4 million last year alone, and each year provides financial aid advising services to some 36,500 county residents. Guided by a dedicated, community-based Board of Directors, the Foundation delivers its services through two Santa Barbara County offices employing a highly effective team of 18 professional staff members, operating within an annual budget of approximately $10 million and carefully managing a responsibly invested endowment in excess of $46 million. Reporting to a 40-member Board of Directors, the President & CEO is responsible for leading and advancing the organization’s vision, strategic initiatives, and priorities. The candidate must possess exceptional leadership and organizational development skills, with the ability to successfully advance the Foundation’s mission and to guide all levels of the organization through a changing educational environment. Because the Foundation receives all of its support from loyal donors, the President & CEO must play a highly visible leadership role in the organization’s fundraising efforts. Candidates should have a demonstrated knowledge of fund development and have experience with a variety of funding sources. The President & CEO will serve as a respected, visible, and influential leader in the community. Extending awareness and support for the Foundation, the President & CEO will create and promote strong collaborations with partnering institutions and agencies in the region. Candidates should have at least seven to ten years of senior management experience, with demonstrated success in fundraising, strategic planning, organizational development, and nonprofit governance. Knowledge of the Santa Barbara community is a plus. The President & CEO must be willing and eager to learn about higher education and financial aid trends. A bachelor’s degree is required; an advanced degree is preferred.
